Cancellation and Refund Policy
1About this policy
1.1This policy explains how cancellation and refunds work for Doubtster plans, trials, top-ups and credits. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions, and words defined there have the same meaning here.
1.2Payments are handled by [PAYMENT PROVIDER], our authorised reseller and merchant of record. Section 8 explains how its terms fit with this policy.
1.3Quick guide. The table below summarises this policy. The sections that follow apply in full.
| Situation | Refund? |
|---|---|
| You forgot to cancel and your plan started after the trial | No |
| You forgot to turn off auto-renew and were charged for a new month or year | No |
| You did not use your credits, or you changed your mind | No |
| You were unhappy with an answer or video | No |
| Your payment failed verification but you were still charged | Yes |
| You were charged twice, or the wrong amount | Yes |
| You cancelled correctly but were still charged | Yes |
| A bug on our side blocked your plan or credits and we could not fix it | Yes |
| Someone used your payment method without your permission | Yes, if you tell us promptly |
2How to cancel
2.1Cancel anytime. You can cancel from your account settings or by emailing contact@doubtster.com. We will confirm your cancellation by email. If you do not receive a confirmation, contact us before your next charge date.
2.2What cancelling does. Cancelling stops future charges. It does not refund a charge that has already been made.
2.3If you cancel during the trial. You will not be charged the plan price. You keep your trial credits until the trial ends. The trial fee is not refundable.
2.4If you cancel after your plan has started. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again. Plan credits can be used until they expire.
2.5Know your charge date. Your account shows your next charge date. Cancel before that date. Because payments can take time to process, we recommend cancelling at least 24 hours before it.
2.6Deleting is not cancelling. Deleting your account, uninstalling an app, or simply no longer using the Service does not cancel your plan. You must cancel it.
3When you are charged
3.1Trial fee. The trial fee is charged when you start the trial.
3.2Your plan. Your chosen plan starts automatically when the 7-day trial ends, and we charge the plan price at that time. After that, we charge you each month (Monthly plan) or each year (Annual plan) on the anniversary of the date your plan started, until you cancel.
3.3Top-ups. Top-ups are charged when you buy them.
3.4Receipts and reminders. We email a receipt for each payment. Where the law requires it, we also send a reminder before your trial ends or before an annual renewal. Not receiving or not reading an email does not by itself entitle you to a refund, except where the law says otherwise.
3.5Where to see prices and dates. Prices are shown at checkout, and your next charge date is shown in your account.
4No refunds for forgotten cancellations
4.1What this covers. We do not refund a charge that happens because you did not cancel before your trial ended or before a renewal date. This includes:
- forgetting to turn off auto-renew or autopay;
- forgetting that your trial would turn into a paid plan;
- not noticing, or not reading, our emails or reminders;
- not realising you would be charged, after you accepted the terms shown at checkout; and
- not using your credits, or not using the Service at all.
4.2How to avoid it. Set your own reminder, and cancel before your trial ends or before your renewal date.
4.3Limits. This section does not apply where the law gives you a right to a refund (see section 8), or in the situations listed in section 6, such as when you cancelled correctly but were still charged.
5Payments are not refundable
5.1General rule. Except as set out in sections 6 and 8, all payments are final and not refundable. This includes:
- the trial fee;
- plan payments, including a Monthly or Annual plan that has started;
- top-ups;
- partly used billing periods, unused credits and expired credits;
- a change of mind, or finding that the Service is not what you expected;
- dissatisfaction with an answer or video, because AI can make mistakes (please use the "Report a mistake" button); and
- an account that we suspend or end because you broke our Terms.
5.2Credits. Credits have no cash value, and we do not convert credits into money.
6When we will refund
6.1Refund cases. We will refund the affected amount, or fix the problem if that is better, in these cases:
- (a) Payment verification failure. You were charged, but your payment failed verification (for example, a failed bank or card authentication check), or your plan or credits were never activated.
- (b) Duplicate or mistaken charge. You were charged twice for the same purchase, or charged an amount that does not match the price shown at checkout.
- (c) Charge after cancellation. You cancelled correctly before the charge date, but you were still charged.
- (d) Account or technical bug on our side. A bug in our systems meant you could not use a plan or credits you paid for, for example your account or credits were not set up after payment, or a video could not be generated because of a fault on our side, and we could not fix it within a reasonable time.
- (e) Unauthorised payment. Someone used your payment method without your permission and you tell us promptly.
- (f) Service ended by us. We end your account for a reason other than your breaking our Terms, or we stop providing the Service. We refund the unused part of any plan you have prepaid.
- (g) Where the law requires. See section 8.
6.2Fix first. For cases (a) and (d), we will usually try to fix the problem first, for example by activating your plan or restoring your credits. If we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, we will refund the affected amount.
6.3How much. We refund the amount that was charged in error or that relates to service you could not use. We may reduce a refund by the value of any credits you have already used.
6.4Evidence and abuse. We may ask for your account email, a receipt and screenshots. We may decline a request if we find evidence of fraud or abuse of this policy, such as repeated or false claims.
7How to request a refund
7.1Send us the details. Email contact@doubtster.com within 14 days of the charge. Please include your account email, the date and amount of the charge, your receipt or transaction number, what went wrong, and any screenshots.
7.2Our reply. We aim to reply within 24 to 48 hours. We will tell you our decision, and our reasons, by email.
7.3Payment of refunds. An approved refund goes back to the original payment method, usually through our payment provider. It can take 5 to 10 business days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer.
7.4Late requests. We may decline requests made more than 14 days after the charge, except where the law requires otherwise or where we agree the problem could not reasonably have been found earlier.
8Payment provider and your legal rights
8.1Payment provider. [PAYMENT PROVIDER] is the merchant of record for your purchase. Its buyer terms and refund policy apply to your purchase in addition to this policy, and you may be able to ask it directly for a refund within the period its terms give. If its terms or the law give you a right that this policy does not, that right applies.
8.2EU and UK. If you live in the EU or the UK, you may have a legal right to cancel a digital service within 14 days. By starting a trial or generating a video, you ask us to begin providing the Service immediately, and you acknowledge that you may lose that right once the Service has been fully provided, and that if you cancel within the 14 days you may have to pay for the Service you have already received.
8.3Australia and New Zealand. Our Service comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. You are entitled to the remedies those laws give you if we fail to meet them.
8.4United States. Some US states have automatic renewal laws that give you cancellation or refund rights in specific situations. Where such a law gives you a right, it applies.
8.5Your rights come first. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have by law. If this policy conflicts with a right you cannot give up by law, that right prevails.
9Disputes and chargebacks
9.1Contact us first. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. We can often fix a problem faster than a bank can.
9.2If you dispute a valid charge. If you dispute a charge that is valid under this policy, we may suspend your account while the dispute is reviewed. We may share records with our payment provider and your bank, such as your acceptance of the terms at checkout, our receipts and reminder emails, and your use of the Service.
9.3If the dispute is decided in your favour. We may end access to the plan and credits linked to that payment.
10Changes to this policy
10.1Updates. We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
10.2Effect. An update applies to charges made after it takes effect. It does not reduce any right you already have for a charge that has been made. For material changes we will give notice as set out in our Terms and Conditions.
